HomeTechniques and TipsAll Products"Update Available" (7.x)

1.10. "Update Available" (7.x)

Applies to: All products, releases 7.x
If you have a 6.x release, even if the update message references a 7.x release, see "An update is available." (6.x).

When I launch my Palisade software, I get a popup telling me a product update is available. I'd like to update, but I have to wait for my IT department to install it; or maybe I just prefer not to update at this time. Can I suppress the popup?

If you just click "Don't update", the reminder will appear again the next time you run the software.  But you can "snooze" it for about a month by clicking "Remind me in 30 days".

If you want to suppress the reminder for a longer time, you can follow this procedure:

  1. Click the "Remind me in 30 days" button.  (This is an easy way to create the necessary key in the System Registry. But if your Palisade software isn't currently running, you can create the key in step 5 below.)
  2. Close Excel and Project.
  3. Click Start » Run, type regedit and press the Enter key.
  4. To suppress updates for all users on this machine, navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\WOW6432Node (if it exists) or HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software; to suppress updates only for your own user login navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software.
  5. Expand that key, and under it click Palisade. In the right-hand panel, you should see a value called CheckForUpdatesDisabled — if it's not there, right-click an empty area and select New » String Value to create it.
  6. Double-click CheckForUpdatesDisabled and enter the value True to disable update notices.

To re-enable update notices, change the value to False or simply delete CheckForUpdatesDisabled.
